Memorial Biography

Koock Jung, MD, spent the bulk of his medical career as an educator and researcher at his alma mater, New York’s Albany Medical College. Between 1974 and 2004 he served the college as a clinical associate professor of psychiatry, while also filling faculty positions such as director of social cross-cultural psychiatry. He made further contributions to the school as a lecturer focusing on topics of advanced psychopharmacology and as a psychiatric researcher. Over the course of his extensive career, Koock Jung, MD, gained additional experience as a psychiatrist at the Psychotherapy Center in Queensbury, New York. His medical career in South Korea, meanwhile, included time at Busan Red Cross Hospital and as a military officer and surgeon with the Republic of Korea Army during the Vietnam War. Koock Jung, MD, first studied medicine at Kyungpook National University School of Medicine in South Korea. He completed an additional four years of medical school at the Albany Medical College, during which time he functioned as a psychopharmacology research fellow and psychiatric resident. He also completed a medical internship at Long Island Jewish Hospital.
